I travelled to Anderson, Mo. (a small town near the Oklahoma state line) to cover a military funeral that the Westboro Baptist Church was expected to protest shortly after the state passed a ban on such activities.

Not many issues have polarized the Columbia community as much as the smoking ban that passed in Nov. 2007, and I covered the story in the lead-up to the ban and coordinated coverage as city, state and nation editor as the controversy continued.
